Soham's golden years began in 1973 with the first of 15 consecutive
championship wins. The club maintained no less than four first division
teams for five seasons starting in 1978-1979. In 1980-1981 the team of Keith
Richardson, Mick Palmer and Andy Withers dropped just 6 sets out of 220.
After leaving their Scout Hut venue in Soham, the club was rapidly reduced
to a shell, although the first team continued to challenge strongly for the
championship, triumphing twice in the 1990's.
